My friend, Karoliina, just came home from a trip to Finland. She's Finnish, married to an American who's also from a Finnish family, and they currently live near Boston. We were talking about how it was strange for her to visit Finland, and then return to her home back in the US where she, her husband, and their daughter live. Where is home? or maybe WHAT is home? We were pondering that b/c we both feel pretty jumbled up sometimes. Other times it seems very clear.
I think one small aspect of that is where you physically live - beyond the town even, I'm talking about the living quarters. Right now that's really important to me. I never thought I was sensitive to noise until I moved in here. We also are realizing that we need more space.
Finding an apartment in Marburg is usually a really tricky thing - we've known people who've looked for the right place for more than 6 months. Vacancy is not high here and prices are. Now that we're just using bikes, we really need to be close to downtown. We also know that when you visit a place, you basically have about 12 hours to decide whether you want it or not - things move fast here!
It's also difficult b/c we want to move the first of July, when Stefan has school vacation and time to deal with it. Since his office is at home and getting your internet hooked up can take up to a month or so, we really don't want to do this in the middle of the school year. We also have to give our landlord 3 month's notice, or move out and find somebody to move in super fast so we don't have to pay the last months we're not here.
Only now have we found one place to even visit. It's further from town than I'm really ok with, but we're looking nonetheless. We're visiting it tonight.
Please pray that we would find something suitable (price/space/location/quiet). Please pray that we would ask all the right questions (and get honest answers) and that we would somehow just 'know' when to say a place is the one we should take. Please pray for our frustration levels with this - it's no fun having this big question mark looming over your head and could be tempting to make a rash decision to just 'get it over with'.
Thanks.

Hallo Juliette,
In welchem Stadtteil schaut ihr euch denn jetzt was an?
Viel Glück und Gottes Segen,
Antje
Oh, the third word in today's blog is my name! "John, come here!" And so we started reading... and now we are going to go to bed and pray for you guys. Although, you've already been to the apartment and now you're taking your 12 hours to make a decision, but with God minor details like that shouldn't matter. Time is a totally different concept for him. Anyway, time to go to bed for me. Please keep us updated.
