Germany requires that it's cars get an inspection every 2 years instead of what's typically found in the USA. While this is longer, it's a much more thorough inspection, so a car with a recent TÜV was one of our prerequisites in our search. We happily purchased our little Golf noting that it's TÜV was done only this past week, meaning that everything critical was up to date. Today we had time to drive to a trusted shop in Gießen to have the radio connected and found we now own a lemon of sorts.
The guys at the good shop were shocked that the car was even awarded it's TÜV certificate. It needs a lot of major repairs (the kind you can't notice in a test drive). Apparently some people give out TÜV easier than others.....grrr.... Since we went through a private dealer and so on and so forth we're stuck with it. So, basically if we through another 1,000 € into it we're all set. Unbelievable. And how could we have known? bwahhh.... we can take care of the repairs in chunks, and over the next few months, but oh, that was just so much fun to find out.......sigh.
I should post something nice after that.....something cool is that yesterday Stefan discovered a new collegue at the school, and she came up to him and said "Don't I know you?" - it turns out she attends Christustreff and is part of the team that helps lead the International Worship Service on Sunday nights. She remembered seeing Stefan there once. So there is some connection for Stefan at work!
Also, we're really looking forward to seeing Joel and Tatiana and the kids in a week. We will head over to their place on Sunday the 24th to attend their church and hang out at their house afterwards. We will be the first Lanesvillians in their new home! We'll report back and tell you how awesome our trip was - we know it will be!
Today's paper had a classified section we were hoping would have some leads for apartments in Marburg, but when we looked through it there were ZERO postings for Marburg, not even ones out of our price range. That is how difficult it can be to find a flat. However, we have been told that the Saturday edition of the paper is when the housing section is really stuffed, so we shall see. We also received a few other roundabout leads today and will be following up on those. We'll let you know.
