My niece wears it best! At 8:47pm EST on Saturday night or 2:47am Sunday morning German time, Carolina's going to take on Villanova in the NCAA basketball championships. Go Heels!
Some UNC fun facts: My grandfather went to school there. My mom also - in fact, Michael Jordan was a student in her same dorm building and she remembers seeing him doing laundry down in the laundry room. She said he thought he was Joe Cool because he got to drive around a Carolina blue van - so this was before the star players got sports cars I guess. The first 10 years of my life were spent in the heart of college basketball country watching all the Wake Forest, NCState, Duke, and Carolina games with bated breath. Dean Smith was referred to as a noble hero, Mike Krzyzewski was talked down, and the while the Wolfpack was a minor threat, the Demon Deacons were a force to be feared - but we always pulled for the Tarheels!
I think there's something special about college basketball - well, college sports in general, but especially the basketball. It's a lot more fun and lighthearted than most of the pro sports, and the fans seem to be a nicer and more congenial bunch overall. This makes it a lot more safe and fun to get into the team spirit. Of course, 10 years living in Red Sox Nation watching both the Sox and the Pats pull major turnarounds is a special thing too - Stefan and I started dating during the '04 World Series so a lot of good was going on then! All the same - March Madness is always a fun time of year and we're hoping for a Carolina win...but we've got two more games to go! Oh, and no, Stefan doesn't get it, but one can try!

UNC is taking home the title. Nothing to worry about. :) Villanova is playing out of their minds right now. As soon as they see Lawson on the court, their going to poo themselves. :)

Well...they did it! And what an exciting championship it was! True to form, the Tarheels dominated the game from the first tip off and were gentlemen winners. They were on a quest since they blew the championship last year on a very simple game. This year they got the trophy!
