Apartment report

Well we had a slew of things turn up in Saturday's classifieds that seemed worth a call, finally. It boiled down to 2 options, one of which was sandwiched between a busy intersection, a popular soccer field, and the city stadium's massive parking lot. No thanks.

This leaves us with one option on the outskirts of Marburg, technically in a neighboring town. Although we won't be able to see the inside until Wednesday night, we got a carsharing car to see the neighborhood yesterday and were pleased to see a quiet residential area on the edge of wide open fields. A bike path cuts through the fields going into Marburg, and a grocery store is not far away. It has the extra room we're looking for and a price that is significantly cheaper than what we currently pay for our smaller space. Probably the best thing about it is the move in date: right in the middle of Stefan's 6 week summer vacation. This is the least stressful time for us to move and would also allow us to give enough notice to our current landlord without having to find the following renter.

But since no place is ever perfect, we have to try to keep a balanced perspective. We would have to buy the kitchen off the current owners, or purchase our own. We would also have to purchase at least one car and then also at least a scooter for Stefan's daily commute. He could bike, but it would be quite long for every day.

Please pray for objectivity as we crunch the numbers and think about the lovely lower rent and August 1st move-in date. Also for wisdom since we'll have to make our decision in about 24hrs after seeing the place.
