Turkey Day

Thanksgiving came early this year (though not as early as the Canadian Thanksgiving) - we all have to fit it in where we can since there's no holiday like it here. We drove down to Lich to join the Whites and a few others for a real feast. We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, peas, gravy, biscuits, pumpkin and pecan pies, and even a kiddie table! (see l-r: Helena, Emma, and Adrien) I think the kids were a little bummed about that one, but I think most of my readers will agree that we've all had to put in our time at the too-small card table with a sister who plays with the candles too much or a food-flinging cousin or two.... At the (ahem) adult table were Joel, Tatijana, Stefan, myself, Steven Beck who also teaches at the FTA with Joel, Ulli who directs a private school in northern Germany, and a woman named Cate and her mother. Cate is considering moving to Germany with GEM (like the Whites) and brought her mother on this trip to meet people here and see more of the area.

Good food (thanks to Tatijana's hard work!), good people, and good conversation. Lots to be thankful for! (though I'm not sure we're entirely thankful about that tramp through the downpour, Joel ;) - good thing Tatijana had tea and coffee at the ready when we returned!) We look forward to seeing the Whites again in December. Joel will be preaching on the 16th and they will be coming up early so we can all enjoy a walk-around the Marburg Weinachsmarkt (Christmas market in the old city) in the afternoon.
