We're back. Thanks to a combination of icy winds from Russia and the Artic, Germany is covered in snow. It seems that most of Germany didn't order enough grit (salt/sand), so transportation everywhere is really messed up. We were concerned that our flight from Boston would be delayed or canceled. Instead, we were only 45 minutes late due to a general boarding issue. However, when we deplaned in Frankfurt, we walked past hundreds of cots set up in the terminal. Hundreds of flights were canceled.
We were really happy we weren't going to have to camp out on one of these! We took a train to Marburg and then slipped and slid in a taxi back to the apartment. Our downstairs neighbors saw us getting out of the taxi and came rushing out to help us bring in all our luggage. Once in our apartment we saw that they had bought two potted plants for us in addition to a slew of groceries to get us started and keep us going through the snow-stormy weekend. A homemade cake stood waiting for us. Yes, we have amazing neighbors!
So we're back. Jet-lagged, overtired, and attempting to process everything. Stefan has to start teaching tomorrow morning and will be prepping tonight. I have to teach on Friday, so will be prepping all week as well as correcting the last batch of assignments that just came in.

From Russia, with love
Lots of thoughts and emotions are swirling about. At least we only have one load of laundry left!

What is wrong with your neighbors? They don't sound normal. I mean, I understand the luggage and the flowers, but CHOCOLATE CAKE. Any advice on how to help our neighbors get there? (Whatever "there" is...)
